Your suspicions are most probably correct.  The fire alarm is connected
to the in-house security system, which includes pull cords to tell
security "I've fallen and I cannot get up".  There is a red button in
the box in the master bath that turns any alarm off -- but if the smoke
is still there, the fire alarm will trigger again in a few seconds.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

     Title: Pull Apart Sticky Bun
Categories: Tested, Easy
     Yield: 6 Servings

   1/4 c  Chopped pecans
   1/2 c  Sugar
     1 ts Ground cinnamon
    11 oz Refrigerated breadsticks
     6 tb Melted butter

MMMMM--------------------------DRIZZLE-------------------------------
     6 tb Powdered sugar
   1/2 ts Vanilla
     1 tb Water (or more)

 Preheat oven to 350.

Combine pecans, sugar and cinnamon in a med mixing bowl and mix well.

Unroll the breadstick dough and separate into 12 strips.

Dip each strip in the butter and coat with the pecan mixture.

Starting at the center of a round 2 quart baking dish (I used 8 inch
round cake pan) loosely  arrange the strips in a spiral fashion to
 form a circle.

Sprinkle with any remaining pecan mixture.

Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.  Cool in p an for 5
 minutes.

 Invert onto serving platter.

Variation of recipe from Pampered Chef Cookbook

 Tested - very nice.

Will try using 1 lb bread dough from bread machine instead of ready
 made dough.
