The Manille Players

The night will fall on the roofs burying this world
where we have real-life so tranquil so gay
the catastrophe has always been so near to us that
this night falls on these roofs bristling with pipes
these houses which split through the sky
When thinking about our life so tranquil so gay
so close to this catastrophe which might which must
which must bring the night upon the roofs
so dirty that it will be there mourning that
if they mourn these roofs it is of the mud flows
along the building on the back of the crowd
if they mourn these buildings disgorging
towards the sewers and the disgorging chimneys and excrement
towards the ground and towards the sky their excrement
their ejections
excrement of our life so tranquil so gay
it looked like
our life so close to the catastrophe that we await
that we await on this night burying this world
night spade ground spade
to throw this world into the darkness and excrement
excrement of ours yours their life so tranquil so gay
ah manille ah manille
our your their life so tranquil so gay
ah manille manille coinche
