Me and my wife visited some friends, which is somewhat rare during these
times.  It is also much more heavy, since everyone has kids, and they
steal lots of energies, making it impossible to talk "normally".

These are good friends, basically part of our family, and nonetheless
I sometimes feel like I belong to a different planet.  As for my real
family. :)

I spent my life learning about computers and such, and it is such an
important part of my world that getting a technical question comes with
an unnatural pleasure.  Well, as long as it doesn't imply to fix someone's
Windows machine.

This friend seems to be fascinated by my world, so he keeps asking.
And I'm a computer geek, which means I'll keep answering, starting from
the beginning of the Universe, to give the most complete picture of
the topic.

It happens so often that I end up being interrupted by something, and
it can be literally anything, and it feels so painfully obvious that my
friend is not paying attention to what I'm saying anymore.

When this happens, that is almost always, I have to resist the temptation
of slipping in the classic "...buy rocket packs, go to the Moon, become
florist" speech.

I usually try to resume my 'lecture'.  I hate doing it: it is really
painful.  Today I just stopped where I was interrupted, instead.  It was
just too painful to recover, and being very aware that it was pointless,
I just decided not to continue.

Can you guess what happened?  Nothing at all, my abrupt interruption
was not even noticed.  I'm not angry about this.  I'm actually somewhat
amused.  I know I can use this strategy now, if I ever feel like I could
spare some energy.

Also, on a completely different topic, I think that kids' television
is real crap.  At my friend's I passively watched a shitty video
involving some asiatic dance course where kids danced at that stupid
"baby shark" song.  I hate the heck out of *everything* like that.
(Not asiatic culture, just the repetitive kids music).
