I just wonder why the LINUX, LINUX-UBUNTU, or LINUX_BBS echos are not good
enough? Two of the three already get zero posts per day on average, while the
LINUX echo seems fairly active.

I guess I just don't understand why some insist on keeping the list of echos a
convoluted mess, rather than clean out the dead wood and refer newcomers to the
active echos we currently have that already cover things in a broad spectrum..?

Why separate Ubuntu from Linux? Is it not linux?
Why have 10 OS2 echos when one would suffice?
Why have 10 RA echos when one would suffice?
Why have a dead echo for every single old BBS software, when they could all be
combined into BBS_CARNIVAL or something similar (ie: BBS_SOFTWARE) where they
would all fall under the same category?

There are many more like that, but those seem to stand out the most off the top
of my mind.

I understand how Fidonet works (and has worked) as far as adding whatever echos
you want. But in this day and age 90% of them are dead. Why continue this
method that's obviously not helping the cause?

If we all worked together (obviously there will be a few separated because some
"adults" can't seem to get along), we could probably weed down the backbone to
about 30 *useful* echos (that may even be quite generous) and would promote and
encourage much more participation.

I guess I just don't understand this way of thinking.

Regards,
Nick
