The Gateway keyword is good, but I was thinking along the lines of this:

DESC This echo is being gated between Newsgroups and Fido.

I think with the concerns expressed to you, all things considered being:

Once dead echo

Issues we have had on both ends of a gating arrangement

Concerns of spam and other things

This could be your way of meeting in the middle.

The backbone isnt requiring this of you, just suggesting.

I am requiring you to change the listing for distribution..

The Eastern Star is just one piece of the North American Backbone, while I
might be flattered that you consider me worthy of a separate designation, I am
as much part of the backbone as the other 3 systems I am meshed with, no system
is greater than the whole.

What I do when I list echoes, to avoid ego bruising is on the DIST keyword I
simply specify:

DIST All Backbones

Fairly neutral and generally once the echoes start flowing on the four systems
of the NAB, they go on out to others.
