To be honest, I don't know many BASIC programmers these days though that's
not due to any deliberate action of mine. Well, depends on what type of
BASIC programmers. The one PowerBASIC programmer I knew sadly died a few
years ago though I know of a few wcBASIC (Wildcat!) programmers. I wrote a
door in QuickBASIC a while back.
I started out with BASIC, first on a Timex/Sinclair 1000 I got in 1984
(which I still have!!!), then a TRS-80 Color Computer 2, an Apple ][c, then
on a Classic Mac, then finally moving on to an IBM PC. I first started
learning UCSD Pascal on a TRS-80 Model III in high school in 1987. When I
got into BBSing heavily in the early 90s is when I got into Pascal.
I still use Pascal today though I am finally learning C since I am a member
of the MBSE BBS Development Team. I do write my doors in Pascal using
Borland Turbo Pascal 7, Free Pascal, and Virtual Pascal.
As for a BASIC echo, start one! I'm sure it'd get traffic. :)
Later,
Sean
