I don't think dosemu is the problem. I run it here just fine in dosemu I
believe. Are you running ooinfo as well as maintoo?

Some games have never been patched, so yes some of them will still need it. I
just keep a handy tppatch.exe and patchcrt.exe in an accesible directory in my
dosemu sessions so I can use it whenever I need to.

It's still pretty common to need a fossil driver. So I would just load one in
your autoexec.bat every time dosemu loads up. I personally use bnu170.zip
(bnu.com is the executable), and haven't had a worry with games not running
since. The game will either use it if it needs it, or it won't if it doesn't.
