Allowing unrestricted access via a website is one thing. Allowing it to
enter the global FTN backbone is another. This is the route that the crap took:
PATH2D: 5030/1492 1256 261/38 123/500 203/0 2
261/38, that's Janis, no? Why does the Russian node 5030/1256 (operated by
Yuri Baranov of St. Petersburg) connect directly to her system? Obviously with
unrestricted access?
Yes, true, internet has given us all an almost unlimited freedom in fidonet,
but maybe we all should be a *little* bit more restrictive? Once upon a time
the FTN connected systems were obliged to make sure that their downlinks had
proper restrictions, so that nobody could write in an echo without proving they
knew what postings were allowed in each and every echo.
