Once upon a time, out on MARS.

While reading the mail, wispering this:

DH> CM> SD> Y'need to find Chris Martin.  He's running WC! under Warp 4, IIRC.

CM> Not quite yet, Sean, I do have a copy of W4 and the FP's but
CM> haven't tried to upgrade the OS on the antique BBS machine yet.
CM> Waiting for it to kinda die (CPU/etc) so I can transfer the HD
CM> and minimal hardwre to a newer machine. That would be the time
CM> for me to upgrade, as the W3 fp42 system is so stable, right now.

DH> It's really hard to get excited about doing an upgrade on
DH> a system that just works isn't it?  :-)

Yup..

DH> I lost a hard drive on the master BBS server, that's what
DH> spurred me to try the Warp4/WSeB upgrade.  After a week of
DH> downtime and horrible fits, I finally threw in the towel
DH> and rebuilt my three old Warp3/LANtastic boxen and brought
DH> Nebeaux back up on the old platform.

I've heard there are numerous issues with Warp4.5 and SIO2K. Some
have stepped back to W4 and SIO1.60d, others as far back as W3.

DH> It leaves me with no "evolutionary upgrade" path though,
DH> I'm stuck with two completely incompatible networks.  The
DH> Warp3 boxen can't "see" the WSeB server and the Warp4 boxen
DH> can't "see" the LANtastic network.  I guess I could try to
DH> build a Warp3 box and just use Connect as the NOS, but it
DH> would still require an "all or nothing" approach to the
DH> experiment.

Dang, you'd think IP would be able to see IP.. Must be someway to
do that. Something that you've overlooked or missed.

DH> You're using Warp Connect to run your BBS?  How many boxes?

Warp3 FP42 on the ancient 486 machine, one box, one dialup right
now. No probable date for any broadband where I live, at least
for the forseeable future... :*(
