  For a first time? Not a bad choice. But if you like CW, QRP and
homebrewing at the same time, then I could propose to you two very
simple schematics of CW-QRPP microtransceivers (by RA3AAE design:
one has 5 transistors only, another - 2 transistors + 1 OpAmp)

   All you need right now is patience, then later you will have
experience.
  There _are_ really good homebrew designs which can be tuned using
multimeter only if you already have two above-mentioned things;)
