PROPAGATION REPORT
Ean Retief ZS1PR reports as follows:
Last week the sun played a trick on every forecaster.
Soft X-rays appearing from behind the sun created the impression that a
moderate increase in activity could be expected and an increase in solar flux
to a value of about 220 was forecast.
The flux did not rise a bit above 168! On the positive side only two
moderate solar flares occurred and conditions were generally good.
During the coming week it is expected that the solar flux will remain in the
range 170 to 190.
At the moment the geomagnetic field is unsettled due to a coronal hole that
has increased the speed of the solar wind. By Tuesday the speed of the solar
wind should decrease and fairly quiet geomagnetic conditions is expected for
the rest of the week.
The 20, 17 and 15 meter bands should be the optimum ones for DX during the
coming week.
