Hello Richard.

06 Sep 00 09:33, you wrote to me:

RB>> My brother, Frank Brumbaugh, (J. Frank Brumbaugh), W4LJD, is s fan
RB>> of his.  He has written many articles for 73 magazine, for PAY, hi.

RW>> I've been a fan of his too.  He's one smart cookie.

RB> I assume that you mean Wayne, and not my brother, hi.
RB> Although he was chief engineer at Heathkit many years ago.

Wow..he got around.  Tell him next time you communicate, that I appreciate
the engineering on some of thier products that I've used over the years.
He may not have been there when they made "lunch boxes" or the Apache
linear amps, but those were great products.

RW>> He's not out of the woods in Brandonton.  Those hurricanes go there
RW>> too.

RB> But not as bad.  He lived in Bradenton on his boat before he sold it
RB> and went to PR.  When he first got back to Bradenton he actually got
RB> back into his same apt, but the place was sold right away, and he had
RB> to move.  I don't know why his antenna situation is so bad, but his
RB> antenna is indoors and seven (7) feet high, hi.  And no, he hasn't
RB> been getting out very well.

Heh...reminds me of my Elmer.  He was a Navy Chief, housed in bachelor
quarters on the Navel Training Center here in San Diego.  He loaded up the
rain gutters with a antenna tuner.  Worked pretty good, as I heard him
running 100 watts on 10meters from Poway valley.  The NTC and Poway would
almost be line of sight for 25 miles (NTC at sea level - Poway at
400'above) if it wasn't for multiple 800' ridges that runs in between
them.

RW>> That's a shame, although, how much is there to talk about every
RW>> month that would warrant spending that much time on the phone?  I
RW>> spend an hour about once a month with my folks and that's good until
RW>> the next month.

RB> I know.  All that time I could use, and there is at least half dozen
RB> people that I could call, I'm just too lazy to do it.  Mainly,
RB> because the other party wants to stay on line for so long, and nil to
RB> talk about.

You're probably like me.  I think that too much phone time is an intrusion
into my personal time.

RB> My brother included.  We were on the phone for an hour
RB> and ten minutes the other day.  Of course, there's plenty we can
RB> discuss, hi. BTW: We haven't seen each other since 1949.

So, while you're talking to each other, the picture you both have of each
other is what you looked like in 1949....{:)
