I'm not sure. After all, Stas is working on this project.
But yes, I love the idea of Fidonet portability.

Yes, one is free to do so.
The wrapping of messages isn't so much of a problem to me. Of course, I started out on Commodore 64 computers on BBSes. The message wraps on PC type boards and my screen often made interesting viewing.
I'd like better grouping of messages. One long stream makes it harder to follow multiple different threads in an echo.
