Yes, times have changed and today you'd not be amazed to see that. Back then
though, it really did confuse folks. ZC's took it in stride but some others
got actually miffed that I was using non-standard ways when at sea to handle
things, including ZONEDIFFs. I had no way to automate them weekly unless I
made no changes at sea and at sea I had no 'file attach capability' so went
low-tech and made segment changes at need then had Janis send them up. Strange
yes, but it meant it didnt matter if I was at sea or not, changes were not
delayed over it. I recall distinctly being at sea when Z6 said yes,
standardize the phone if ION to the static (no deviation) 0 set. We had too
many close ties to Z3 to even think of not giving them something they could use
as a known, undeviated block. Perfect? No. Heck of a lot closer than a hodge
podge though.
Anyways, back to the topic of this place since that sort of thing isnt and
never will be a 'standard'. It's more of a one-off bit of our Fido history one
wouldn't expect but really happened.
