In a way it seems that could be true, but after thinking about it a bit, I don't think PCs will totally go away.  There is some work that I think is just best done on a PC (at least due to having a larger screen and a physical keybaord), such as software development, photo & video editing, document editing, etc..  Also, I feel like PC gaming is still a significant industry.  And in particular, it seems to me that the market for graphics cards (especially ones with AI) is as strong as ever.  For those reasons, I just don't see PCs becoming obsolete.

However, if someone comes up with a more powerful phone or tablet, as well as a docking station for it that allows it to connect to a large screen and physical keyboard (as well as ethernet, to help connectivity), then I think you could accomplish all those same tasks just as easily.
