It used to be a bit of self-importance ("Look at me, I have a cell phone
and YOU DON'T!) but nowadays everyone has at least a crappy Android
phone that they're talking on.
What cracks me up are the people that hold the phone up parallel to the
ground so the microphone is in front of their mouth, then use
speakerphone to hear. I've seen people doing that on FaceTime, so the
other person just sees clouds and a passing airplane if they're lucky.
