frontdoor works just fine with a telnet capable virtual modem like
netserial/netfoss... plus joho has returned to fidonet and is working on
frontdoor again...
but, right now, in today's fidonet, binkd is the most common mailer used... it
is a BSO mailer so those with binnkleyterm experience will probably understand
it faster and easier than others...
i use both, frontdoor and binkd, on my system in a kinda of hybrid setup...
while i could use the BSO in its natural form, i prefer to use binkd's
fileboxes which makes it easier for my scripts to move the outbound mail to
each system that connects here via the binkp protocol... all the major
processing is still done in the frontdoor/fastecho style manner... all inbound
traffic is moved to the central processing area and dealt with... outbound
stays with FD for its dynamic routing or is moved into a system's filebox for
binkd to mangle...
