That could be a nice idea.. but I don't always remember to post the changes
here <grin>. I try to do it though.
When we first started fidonet's file distribution it was called the "Filebone",
Keven Snively was the first person to use the Raid format you still see in
FileGate.zxx.
He had instructions in his original document, Filebone.na, on how to update
George Peace's RAID automatically (RAID was used to announce new files). Here,
Keven was talking about the format of the filebone.na file (area tagname
[etc.]):
% This format is based on the TIC and RAID programs. Indeed, you can directly
% use this file as part of your RAID config file. For example, the following
% DOS command could be used to create your new RAID.CFG file from the weekly
% FILEBONE.NA file along with prefix and suffix files (RAID.BEG and RAID.END)
% containing your personal configuration information:
%
% Copy RAID.BEG + FILEBONE.NA + RAID.END RAID.CFG
%
%
Simple really :)
Now, something like that would work with BBBS's external.bbb eh.. kind of.. :)
When people started using Allfix and FileMngr which were gui programs we
stopped doing the above.
