Hello Tim,
>>>> Our beloved moderator, Bob Klahn, has died.
TR>>> Has he really died? Or is this just another one of your silly
TR> jokes?
>> after all this time you really have to ask that??? [smh]
TR> When Roy Witt died and I saw the first messages about it, I knew Witt
TR> had so many enemies in Fido it would not have been beneath one or two
TR> of them to start a rumor of that sort, taking advantage of Witt's absence
TR> due to his illness. I stayed out of the first traffic over it waiting to
TR> see if it would turn out to be real or not.
Roy was an idiot. But so are we all. What made things confusing
was the way Roy's death was handled (or mishandled). Some people in
fidonet should have had more sense. Strangest case of a dead man
remaining alive (at least as a node) than anybody can remember.
TR> In this case, Klahn hasn't posted in Fido in quite some time, but that
TR> isn't really unusual about him. He usually gets his head handed to him
TR> by one or another of his Fidonet enemies, and lays low for a time till
TR> he either thinks everyone's forgotten how wrong he was on an issue, or
TR> he thinks up some new idiot-twist to it and comes charging back with
TR> more nonsense, only to get his head handed to him once more.
The last reference I was able to find was a letter to the editor
in the Toldedo Blade newspaper, dated May 29, 2015, written by
Bob Klahn - dealing with the subject of the University of Toledo
football team.

Nothing wrong with praying at football games. I watch quarterbacks
and receivers do it all the time, trying to complete a Hail Mary pass
on the last play of the game. And sometimes it works. But only for
the Atlanta Falcons when playing the New Orleans Saints.
TR> This particular `sulk' has been of much longer duration than usual for
TR> Klahn to do a disappearing act. Typically, he's back at it by now.
TR> Especially in regard to the controversy so-called `black lives matter'
TR> stirred up.
TR> This absence is not normal for him. Especially when seeing `my' name in
TR> the *from* field in a message in his echo.
TR> Something's wrong or he'd have come out swinging by now. Somebody should
TR> check on him to see if he's all right.
Given his sudden disappearance from cyberspace, and no obituary
having been published, along with his web page having been taken
offline, leads me to believe that either his computer died and he
decided not to return to cyberlife, or that he gave his computer
to the needy and decided not to return to cyberlife.
I lost a computer thanks to Katrina. I lost another computer
thanks to Rita. Living in an area prone to hurricanes, I takes
my chances. Sometimes my computer lives, sometimes it dies.
OTOH, what most probably happened was Bob Klahn upgraded to
Windows 10. And then he got the `Something Else' screen ...
