Some people in another hobby I'm in, amateur radio, feel that the hobby
should take priority over things like church, family, health, job, and even
"honey-do's". It's like they eat, sleep, and [poop] the hobby. To me, that
is overkill, and one is risking burnout real quickly.
I wish I could spend more time with my hobbies, but my health won't let
me do it anymore. That's what I told my boss the day I resigned from my
job over 17 years ago. Had I not done so, I likely would've died long
before now.
