Subj : D'Bridge 3.99/SR13 addendum

Everyone,
Due to recent events regarding a false-positive detection with Clam
Anti-Virus, as per the FILEGATE echo I am issuing the following "official
addendum".
D'Bridge does NOT contain a virus, spyware, malware or anything which would
cause apparent emotional stress or issues for someone who is technically-adept
at running a Fido system... specifically a large mail or File distribution
system.
Nor should it cause any concern for someone able to understand the
concept of a false-positive... without deleting files from said distribution
system (essentially being the "nanny" protecting your system from my actions),
or gleefully Netmailing the author telling him to "clean up his mess".
The virus Clam AV claims my code has, would immediately cause a tell-tale sign
of infection on a Windows computer the moment D'Bridge is installed.
Specifically modifying system files and generally causing things to "not be
right". Given that the false-positive has existed for quite some time, prior
to SR13, and here we are May 28th 2017, I would say its safe to assume that
the problem is with Clam AV, and not a "mess" that I have to "clean up".
So the author hereby apologises that recent code updates trigger the sky to be
falling for an open-source anti-virus program while every other anti-virus
solution on the planet gives the okay... specifically Enterprise-grade
anti-virus products.
The author also apologises that the operator of a major mail and file
distribution systme had to involve their spouse to test my executable code
despite clear evidence of a false-positive, despite my logical and factual
explanation, and the fact that theres no way I could EVER publish something
nefarious without incurring the lifelong wrath of every single Sysop in
Fidonet. Apparently believing the words and actions of someone who has been
developing Fido software and tools since 1994, and running a major mail
system of his own, using his own software, is not good enough.
The author also apologises for hearing nothing but crickets chirping when it
comes to reports of viruses or any remotely-nefarious actions caused by my
doing.
Thank you. I welcome any comments or suggestions to help me better publish
products that will not cause turmoil or anguish.
Nick
