Makes sense. I had a colleague who, if i recall correctly, had quadruple
bypass surgery. Once in the bowling alley he remarked that it was the
only place left in town that cooked their fries in tallow, and they taste
so much better that way. The man knew what he liked!
I found an informative article on recipesource.com linking processed meats
to cancer as well. I guess it's old, but increasingly mainstream news.

Title: Gochujang Pesto
Categories: Korean, Pesto
Yield: 4 Servings
2 c Basil
1/3 c Pine nuts
1 cl Garlic
1 ts Course sea salt
1 ts Sesame seeds
1/4 c Sesame oil
1/4 c Olive oil
2 tb Gochujang sauce
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Place all ingredients in food processor and pulse until you reach
desired consistency.
Slather over bread, add to pasta, or use as dressing for salad.
