Hi Dave,
DD> It really bothered her when she was declared "disabled" and not
DD> allowed to work ... even though she could still do the job.
RH> Couldn't even work from home? Probably not, since it was pre Covid and
RH> work from home wasn't as popular.
DD> She was a "social worker" and attending my local branch of the
DD> University of Illinois to complete her Master's in Social Work when
DD> they dropped the bomb.
Did she finish the Master's or just let it drop? My mom was told she had
5 years to get her Master's in Library Science, then the state said "you
can't do it; you have a husband and 5 kids to take care of". She proved
them wrong, pulling down A's and B's in all her course work.
DD> Whst bothered her worser was when her grand daughter, Hayley, who
was DD> on track to become an Olympic swimmer has the degenerative
discs knock DD> that dream for a loop.
RH> That must have been a crushing feeling. Did she get the surgery?
DD> Yes, she did. But, whilst it "fixed" the problem it put a hitch in her
DD> "get along" which affected the swimming and put "paid" to the Olympic
DD> hopes. Which was a shame. But, Hayley's a good kid and she'll snap
DD> back from it. Bv)=
Sounds like she will do well for herself in some other field, missing
the competitive swimming less and less as time goes on.
RH> While travelling, we saw some place advertising chicken rings. Couldn't
RH> stop to investigate, figure it must have been chopped and formed
RH> chicken.
Now that we are out of the OH/IL/IN (White Castle) territory, I'll
probably not think about chicken rings again. It was unusual enough that
Steve commented on it, something he usually doesn't do about fast food.
