Hello!

I had an interesting incident regarding a payment requested by
credit card.

I young lady (est. 25-30yrs old) walks into my shop and asks
if she could use a friend's credit card that she only has
information for.  I wasn't quite sure what this would look
like, but after a few minutes of shopping she was ready to
pay. She holds up the her phone and shows me the numbers in a
message on her screen!  Duh.  At first I thought this was
going to be a new kind of Apple Pay or something. But it was
just information. Technically, what she was doing would be no
different than a phone order (where I can't really tell if
someone is using a card legitimately either).

She elaborated her story by saying that she is tasked to find
some material as a welcome gift for a home she was decorating.

She was *very* attractive, articulate and did not seem dodgy
at all.

I let it go ahead.

She needed to "sign" my copy from the debit/cc machine (it was
basically just a scribble), but then she offered to provide
full info about the card owner +address +phone, etc.

Seemed to be good enough for me.

I treated this as a "card not present"/phone sale. If this
goes south, I'll only be out $78.

I just never encountered someone so open about using someone
else's card.
