I recently (three weeks ago) ran into the same situation. My 29g kit came
with an aquatech filter and it started to notably slow down. I ended up
getting the HOT and running it on the opposite side (on the back) from the
aquatech (which is doing alright still). Im really happy witht the HOT the
ability to customize your output flow is very nice (adjustible for vertical
((up and down at the same time) and horizontal), and with the mechanical
filtration (with cage for carbon, filter floss etc) works extremely well,
the micron cartridge is okay though, get dirty fast, tough to clean (soak in
bleach solution ((10%) then dry and rinse again), but works well to polish
the water every once in a while. Another bonus to the HOT in a 29g is that
you will be filtering your tank water around 8X an hour, very nice. Okay Ive
said my piece, I dont have anything to offer regarding the other filter as I
have no experience with them. Cheers, Brian Oh and if you do go with the HOT
make sure to buy it on line around 60 bucks, all the LFS Ive seen offer it
at around 80$ on sale.
