I've had aquariums off and on for oh... 20 years now, ranging from
little 10 gallons to a 70 gallon. All fresh water, and with good
filtering systems, etc. But, for the first time ever, all of a sudden I
have snails in my tank and I have no idea how they got there.
Currently I have a 29H tank, with two angelfish that are about hmmm 6-7
years old (big suckers!), about two months ago I picked to two
suckermouth plecos to help clean the tank. Not sure what happened, but
the two plecos didn't make the transition good and passed away, but
around the same time snails started populating my tank. There are a few
other inhabitants of the tank, I do try to keep 5-10 glass shrimp in the
tank, because they are really something to watch, especially at feeding
time.
So anyway, I figure the snail piggybacked in with the Plecos and maybe
the shrimp, but it just really surprised me that they just all of a
sudden showed up and in good numbers. They must have an active sex life.
