What for example? He promised that in 2014 cars wouldn't need drivers anymore and that he'd be taking tourists to Mars in 2024. So, what did he do apart from promising stuff that never happened?

Actually, Musk had one big success, indeed. He sold a car to someone who's not allowed to drive. But the guy who bought it was still happy, because it was "all computer". But other people are a lot better at selling stuff, for example companies who sell sand to people living in a sand desert. ;-)
