Ah, colorfield at last! After some minor setbacks, I've finally
entered this quiet edge of space. I have to say, I enjoy the
aesthetic here. When I first stumbled across sloum's phlog here,
with all of his beautiful headers, I found that I was inspired
to create things. So that's what I will do here---make some art
with the tools available.
Since I first stumbled across colorfield, I've been trying my hand
at ASCII art. I'll collect some of the more successful attempts in
a gallery here. I've also realized how well-suited Gopher is for
concrete poetry. I am not in the habit of writing concrete poems,
but I feel compelled to start. Whatever I do end up sharing here
is made freely available for anyone to enjoy, adapt, or satirize
as they see fit.
Since I've started messing around on the non-web, I've been taking
the time to write more. I write everyday, but unfortunately it is
mostly formal, academic prose that almost no one will read. My
dissertation has come to eclipse all other reading and writing in
my life. That is my fault. The quiet simplicity of Gopher and
Gemini have been a haven from the solemn, sexless world of
professional scholarship. I feel a little more like myself these
days, and a little more given to wonder.
