Hi all, in this article I'm going to talk about OpenBSD on my
laptop. I haven't installed it yet but that time is coming soon!
I recently installed OpenBSD 6.5 on my Mom's old computer that
has 512 MB of RAM and 30 GB of hard drive space. Needless to say
it went very well. I was considering other operating systems, and
I had Puppy Linux on there before, but I felt that Puppy Linux
was a security nightmare since it runs everything as root. OpenBSD
performed very well on the machine and that made me want to install
it on all my machines. Currently I have it on my tower, but I feel
like it could perform even better on my laptop, which is what I use
most of the time. On the laptop right now I'm using Ubuntu, and before
Mageia and before that Elementary OS.

Now, why would I use something with LESS software over something with
more, like Ubuntu? The reason is that all the software I use 90% of the
time is also on OpenBSD. OpenBSD is also simpler to debug, use and most
importantly, when upgrading, it's often just 3-5 steps that are easy
to do.

I'll give you a list of all the software I use. SSH, cmus, bash, libreoffice
, firefox, thunderbird, mpv, ranger, emacs, ristretto, feh and that's really
about it. OpenBSD definitely has all the above.

Well, I know it wasn't much, but that's my case for using OpenBSD on my laptop!
See you all next time!
