Well, boy howdy!!
I've been struggling for a while to get
a 3COM 3C509 NIC I had lying around to
work in my Tandy 1000TX, with no luck.

So, with a little bit of spending money
now in my possession I bought an Intel
8/16 LAN card, known to work in this
type of machine.

It set up like a charm! As soon as I
got packets back, I shelled into my
raspberry pi and then into colorfield
(there is no modern SSH in MS-DOS).
This is so much faster than the serial
PPP connection I had using my laptop B)

Unfortunately, sloum's vim-clone
"Hermes" does not like the colors on
my terminal, there's a number of
things that could be wrong here.

the "Chalk" text editor works, but on
my terminal it displays some of what I
assume are ANSI escape codes as the
black & white smiley face characters :)

Well, that's all for this current
update. I gotta put the case back on
this PC, and cook dinner!
