I'm sorry to say it, but this book really doesn't hold interest
for me.
I'm nearly 400 pages in (out of 477 on my edition) and I'm
honestly not sure what the point is. All of the plot is
centered around an event that one of the main characters saw,
although there's very little talk about it or why it's a big
deal after tye first few chapters. Just a lot of back and
forth about logistics, it seems.
The hardest issue, though, is that every chapter is between 2-6
pages, and each one alternates between two POVs. it gives me
cognitive whiplash and I can't pay enough attentiom or absorb
enough action in any single chapter to feel entertained.

It's really quite strange, but at 50 pages in I decided I
didn't want to put the book down in case I wanted to read
it again someday, and now at 400 pages I have even more
investment in it!

I read at night before bed and as a consequence there are
only so many styles of writing that I can read. Long books
are usually no good because I struggle to remember what I
read several weeks prior in the same book. Sometimes a book
is very compelling, a fast read, and that's not an issue.
I'm sorry to say that *The Peripheral* isn't a fast read.
