Here's a quick story about a failed utility company inspection
that I witnessed today. I recently had a gas stove installed at
home, and county regulations require that it be inspected by the
gas utility company shortly after installation. Well, my
inspection was scheduled for today, so I stayed home all day to
wait for the inspector. The latest they were to arrive was 2pm,
so I called the utility when nobody arrived by 3pm. The person
I talked to sounded surprised and said, "but they did come out to
your home and I have a record that your installation failed the
inspection for [reasons x, y and z]." Well I had been home all
day and was rather confident that nobody came into my house and
inspected my kitchen. And further [reasons x, y and z] didn't
even match the installation details in my kitchen. So they put
me on the line with the inspector, and it turns out that he
inspected the wrong house. He simply walked into someone else's
house and did an inspection on their gas stove. And the
funniest part; those poor people failed their inspection! My
inspection has been rescheduled for next Friday. (Sorry for
the lack of paragraph breaks.)
