Work woes and general updates

My wife has beenhaving a rough time at work.  She was hired to be
in charge of accessibility (from a code standpoint). Then after a
bit they moved her over to the Ruby on Rails team.    She did not
know Rails prior to being moved. They knew this.  I guess she did
not pick it up as fast as they would have liked.     She has been
moved back to accessibility... which  is sort of  good... but she
feels like a failure. Being pregnant I think has made the emotion
of it all a little more intense. I didnt know it,  but for months
she has dreaded going to work each day. We talked about work woes
a lot... but I did not know things had gotten that bad.   It is a
bummer and it has hit her confidence hard. I'm hoping things turn
around, but I am a little worried they wont. At the very least, I
hope things can hold steady until maternity leave.  We can figure
things out from there.

I on the other hand, love going to work. Though my boss is hoping
to have us redo our main application as a Rails application also.
I really hate frameworks and am not looking forward to it,  but I
think I'll be able to adapt to it alright.

On the baby front,  we should hear this week about gender and any
genetic abnormalities (which will hopefully not be present).   We
are excited! We are almost halfway there. :)

On the server I have really been enjoying Odlli. I have not had a
lot of experience with IRC, and that experience was a little con-
fusing.   Odlli simplifies things nicely.   I've been thinking of
coding  up  a  bot  or  writing a small client  (for the learning
experience).

I really loved moji's suggestion of making "port 70" stickers. It
spurred a conversation about stickers for CS in general.  I think
it would be fun to have stickers or shirts or something. Proceeds
could go toward hosting / registration fees (which solderpunk has
mentioned are pretty minimal).

CPJ has been traveling by train[1].  I  also  love  traveling  by
train,  but have not done so over any reasonable distance since I
was young (cross country multiple times).  Now I mostly jsut take
the train into the city (a 20 minute train ride).  I'd like to be
able to take the time to travel by train in a  remote part of the
country. There are a lot of places that have no roads, but trains
travel through. It is fun to see that part of the country.

Krixano  has been working on a game that I have enjoyed testing a
bit.  I think it is gonna be  a  fun one and I look forward to it
getting a bit further and I'm excited to see new features appear.

There has also been a lot of talk about terminals.   I'm starting
to get sleepy   (as I do every time I finally sit down to write),
so I will just say that I spend  most of my computer time in some
form  of terminal or another and I deifnitely prefer it for  most
things. :)

Til next time y'all!
