When I was in C-Town a few weeks ago, I drove downtown by myself
and went to Public Square for the afternoon. They got a casino there
and it had changed owners. Last time I was there, it was called
Horseshoe. Now it is called JACK.
Now, I ain't got no business going to no casino with COVID-19 going
on, being in the high-risk category, and being unemployed, but I
ended up there anyways. Go me.
I walked around to check out the place and there were some people
playing, but wasn't busy. It pretty much looked the same as before.
Masks and social distancing is required, but for some reason, it still
felt kinda yucky in there, more so than casinos usually do pre-COVID.
I figured that since I was there, I should at least see how things
are with me and Lady Luck.
If I go to casinos, I mostly do the machines since the tables are
way too social for me and I like machines and sometimes they like me.
Also, the tables intimidate me.
The first few machines were duds and was ready to call it quits, but
the big Price is Right machine was calling me. First few pulls was
nothing, but then I got some bonus round thingy, which got me some
money. Lady Luck said, "Don't stop now, keep going!" So I did.
Pulled a couple times more and bingo! Another bonus round. The
bonus left me with 3x my initial win, yet just below the radar of
dispatching the people with the tax forms. One of the workers there
gave me congrats and said that that was the most she had seen
anybody win from that machine.
Lady Luck said to me, "GET.OUT.NOW!" So I cashed out, kindly thanked
her and left the facility.
The wad of bills felt dirty in my pocket as I hurried out of the
casino. I had to walk off the winning rush around Public Square.
One of the things I like about Cleveland is that the street people
are not as aggressive as the street people that I have encountered in
LA and they are easier to talk to. This was not a time when I wanted
to talk to street people, but I ended up talking to one anyways.
The dude bummed a cigarette and we started shooting the shit. He was
going on about getting a new pair of boots and he needed $40. I was
like, man, you's got some nice Timberlands on, those are great boots!
He be like man, it's gonna rain and the weather's getting cold. I be
like you get yourself some galoshes and be done with it. He laughed
and I went on my way. Whew!
I walked back to the parking garage as the wad of eeveel was
burning hellfire in my jeans, screaming, "mug this dude!" Found my
mom's car, got in, and took off like a jive turkey in the straw.
When I got back to the 'burbs, I stopped by Mr. Hero's for a victory
meal of Romanburger and tater tots (to go, of course.)
Winner! Winner! Mr. Hero's for dinner!
