We at bitreich want systems to just work and be useful. At the last bi‐
treichcon this year in Chemnitz, a conference system was tried out,
which is easily deployable nearly everywhere.
What you need:
* wifi / network
* stable 512 Kb/s upload for audio
* bandwidth for low-band SSH and IRC connections
* one audio headset
* optional for room presentation:
* big monitor / TV / projector
* loudspeakers
Presenters log into bitreich.org and show their presentation using the
catpoint tools. Those are text presentations which are multiplexed to
various outputs.
First from everywhere visitors can log in via anonymous ssh and see what
is shown. They hear what is presented through the audio server. Visitors
at the conference see the presentation on their own de‐ vices or on the
big monitor and listen to the presenter.
At least one person in the room is on IRC and takes questions. The
speaker keeps to the order of always remembering the later listener to
the audio recordings to repeat questions.
The most important person is the moderator to keep order of speakers and
a clean audio recording.
If those rules above are taken into consideration, uploading the record‐
ings can be easily done after each session or in a break. No postpro‐
cessing is needed.
