---> About the Enhancement Software <---
The Microsoft philosopy is to advertise that their software does
virtually everything. The company therefore bundles dozens of mini-
programs called "applets" with their Windows products, so that they can
legally advertise that Windows offers the feature in question. Most of
these applets are pretty lame however.
To the rescue has come a number of 3rd party vendors who believe that
they can make better versions of Microsofts applets. Because most of
these programs are so small, many are offered for Free (either due to
the goodness of the programmers heart, or because the company hopes
that if you like their free applet, you will also want their expensive
commercial software offerings).
Included here are several FREE programs that can replace Microsofts
bundled applets. They are very good, and I use most of them myself.
