## What Have We Achieved?

* First see my talk from bitreichcon 2019

* The IRC was very active, productive and funny.
       * Thanks everyone!

* We had Bitreichcon 2019 with more visitors and viewers than before.

* We work together with Devuan now.

* Our projects are evolving as needed.
       * Our development policy makes them seem stall for a while,
         but they are simply working.

* annna is evolving and getting more features for the community.
       * 466 memes by 2019-12-30!
       * Propose your meme!

* Suckless is controlled by Bitreich.

* Gopher is evolving even further.

## Bitreich Member Statistics

* Members: 10

* Council: 5

* Not much has changed here.

## IRC

* We have a very active community here.

* Every day something funny happens.

* Memes everywhere.

* Technical discussions about all kind of topics.

* Keep it going!

## Bitreichcon 2019

* First see my talk at bitreichcon 2019 for a summary

* We had up to 25 listeners for the talks on radio!

* Five people came all the way to my remote home to visit in person.
       * From four different countries: Germany, USA, France, India

* There were presentations by six speakers.
       * Remote presentations from: USA, France, Croatia
       * The more people present, the less I have to present and
         can organize.

* The IRC was overactive for questions.

## Bitreichcon 2020

* It will happen in cooperation with Dyne or Parazyd, in Amsterdam,
 Netherlands.

* Combined with Devuan conference.

* We have not decided on the month and date yet.
       * Cooperations are slow.

* Timeplan:
       * until Feb 2019
               * have logo ready and the exact date
               * start Call for Papers
               * start Call for Registration

* Amsterdam can be easily reached from everywhere around the world.

* No conference fees.

* Bring your joke!

## What Did Not Go As Expected

* Gopher search is only half done.
       * 20h was too distracted with politics.
               * But there he was successful.

* Grparazyd II did not come out.
       * We need to use the fun moment of FOSDEM for further
         development.
       * Maybe add it as a principle of open source development:
               * Use the Fun Moment!

## How Do Projects Die?

* Key people have other interested.
       * family, job change, burnout etc.

* The project has no practical usage anymore.
       * Not used every day.

* There is no fun in the project anymore.
       * Bureaucracy and seriousness has taken over.

## How Do Projects Thrive?

* Key people are interested.
       * Activity every now and then.
       * Constant small activity.

* The project solves an important problem in my life.
       * Key people use the project and improve it.

* There is fun and activity in the project.
       * You feel happy to be in contact with the project.

## Introducing Excuses Management

* All serious and boring companies have quality management.
* But quality is not what is needed.
* Happiness and love for something is needed.

* Bitreich now has an excuses management.
       * Everyone should send me their excuses in their life. We will
         have excuses meeting. There will be an excuses officer.
       * No, fuck this.

## How To Overcome Excuses The Bitreich Way

For everyone next year and in the future:

* When you are using some computer, software or hardware and it is tedious.
       * Your inner feeling of using it is bad and you do not really want to
         use it.
* Ask yourself, if this could be done more simpler, maybe in some other
 programming language.
* Write the code in a good evening or when you have a really good mood.
* Publish the code on bitreich.
* Make other people happy.

* See Solene, how she made many people happy with drist and reed-alert.
       * Thank you Solene, so much!

## Planned Events

* Bitreich will be at FOSDEM in Brussels, in Feb 2020.

* Bitreich will be at Chemnitzer Linuxtage in Chemnitz, German, Mar 2020

* And there is of course Brcon2020.

* Anyone else is somewhere else and needs help representing?

## Future Plans For Bitreich

* Keep the fun in the project.
       * Basic principle of bitreich.
       * Memecache is now sanitized.
       * My bitreich-fun wiki page is 520 lines long.

* Keep brcon as a community gathering running.
       * This time with support by others.
       * Organisation on more shoulders, so more fun for everyone.

* Implement the proposed Excuses Management (EM)
       * Get members more involved.
       * Noone expects the Bitreich (#spanish) Inquisition!
