Perl REs are the de facto standard by which other REs are measured.  Not
using csh, I couldn't say if it is equivilent to Perl REs or not.  But are
you referring to csh file globbing?  That isn't exactly the same as Perl
pattern matching.

I guess it depends on the word 'wildcard' which might be the same as the
term 'metacharacter' in a Perl RE, or might *specifically* imply file
globbing.
