I think I played it on the Apple II but not too much if I recall, but this is
definitely a more low tech version that came from a 1977 computer magazine.
I just tried to read the BASIC and figure it out rather than my memory of the
game, so it's limited to that(which is fortunate), but it would be easy to add
on to. I forgot about the tombstones (I actually don't remember too much of
the game), but the basics are you shoot stuff and buy supplies and try to make
it the end of the trail.
Anyone with a shred of know how and some time can probably change the strings
to make a custom version, and I encourage people to do so, but if it's cool let
me know so I can check it out. I might do such a thing, but as it is I've been
a bit too lazy to log on to my own board. It also wouldnt be hard at all to
integrate Ansi screens for the events as well. I personally think the game is
pretty dry, and I think I did when I was a youngster too. But it's ripe for
satire.
