Subj : Where does log() write in Linux?

Hi guys,
I am working on another little door game, and I wanted to use log() to help me
debug it. But I can't figure out what file log() writes to. None of the logs I
have checked (error.log, node.log, etc) have the data from my door.
My BBS is running under debian linux. Is the log file a linux file, or is it a
synchronet file?
