I wasn't trying to use it on my BBS. I just wanted to check out some newsgroups for activity.

After getting my free trial with Eternal September, I've realize I would never pay for usenet, even if it's only 10 bucks for a lifetime subscription. ;)

It was good enough for what I needed at the time, and definitely swayed my decision to not continue any further with it.
