Can you cite what wiki page you're referring to? I don't know of anything like that being removed.

Downloading files via FTP and HTTP are integral features of Synchronet. Sending a link to someone via the terminal server could be done (wasn't done before that I recall), but FTP URLs aren't really all that useful these days since you can't use them in modern web browsers and an HTTP URL would depend on *how* you're sharing your files via the web: ecWeb or webfileindex.

A temporary link isn't necessary since Synchronet provides permanent links, e.g.
https://vert.synchro.net/Synchronet/sbbs320b.zip
There's also the option to email files to users:
