Ugh. Yeah, you shouldn't follow those directions. Did you use the init-fidonet.js script as directed at https://wiki.synchro.net/howto:fidonet ?
That automates much of what any other directions have you do manually.

The log output (from your BinkP service) will tell you why it disconnects.

So "1:266/512@fidonet" is not necessarily the same node as "1:266/512". Which node do you have configured in echocfg->Linked Nodes?
