Milky Way brownie

Ingredients

1 cube butter, softened (for the brownies)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs (before using, let sit out of the refrigerator for 5 minutes)
1/2 cup milk (before using, let sit out of the refrigerator for 5 minutes)
6 ounces dark chocolate chips, melted and slightly cooled
6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips, melted and slightly cooled
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup flour (heaping)
1 tablespoon butter, softened (for greasing the pan)
9 snack-size Milky Way candy bars (for the inside of the brownies)
20 snack-size Milky Way candy bars, cut into medium-size chunks (for the top of
the brownies)
1 package (11 ounces) caramels

Directions

1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Grease the bottom and sides of a square, 8-inch metal pan with butter.

3. Lay a large piece of parchment paper in the pan so that it sticks to the
butter, with about 2 inches of paper hanging off the sides of the pan.

4. Grease the parchment paper that's inside the pan with butter. Set aside.

5. To a large mixing bowl, add the butter, sugar and eggs. Beat on high with a
mixer until creamy.
Add the milk, melted chocolate (make sure the melted chocolate has cooled a bit
so it's not hot when added to the mixture), baking powder and salt. Beat on
medium speed until incorporated.

6. Using a large spatula, mix the flour into the mixture until incorporated.

7. Pour 1/2 the batter into the parchment paper-lined baking pan.

8. Lay 9 snack-size Milky Way candy bars in 3 rows equidistant from one another
in the batter.

9. Top with the remaining batter, which should completely cover the candy bars.

10. Bake for 25 minutes.

11. Remove from the oven, and let cool completely.

12. Lift the brownies out of the pan by using the parchment paper hanging off
the sides.

13. Cut the brownies into serving sizes, and place them on parchment paper.

14. To a small bowl, add about 10 unwrapped caramels, and slightly melt them in
the microwave (about 30 seconds). Stir the caramel so that it melts further.

15. Drizzle caramel on top of a brownie, and then top with chunks of Milky Way
candy bars (so that the chunks of candy bar will stick to the caramel before it
hardens).

16. Repeat the process by melting and remelting the caramel in small batches.

17. If caramel is dripping off the sides of the brownies, it's best to serve
them on small pieces of parchment paper so the caramel doesn't stick to the
plate.
