This message area is for dealing with portable and mobile operations
with ham radio.

Normally, where a ham radio operator has their "shack" is from their
primary residence...whether their mailing address is that street
address, or a Post Office Box. When operating from their residence,
no "suffix" is added to their callsign.

However, if they are away from their "shack"...they are either "mobile"
or "portable".

"Mobile" operations can be from a car, truck, train, plane, boat, or
even a bicycle.

"Portable" operations are from a location other than the individual
operators "shack". This can be on vacation somewhere, at a hamfest,
or elsewhere.

Take npte that operation on a plane or boat requires permission from
either the pilot, or master (captain) of the ship. Normally, you can
operate from a train or bus, but these modes usually require you to
have a set of headphones on, to avoid disturbing other passengers.

Also, wherever you operate, safety is the key. If operations could be
a safety hazard, it is best NOT to operate in this way.

Note that I am working on preparing batchfiles for these message areas,
and it may take some time to get these posts going.

Also, since I consider messages over 30 days old to be out of date on
my BBS, these messages are deleted after that point, and reposted once
a month, with new information, when required.
