Indeed.  There have many times I've changed frequency or turned the radio off,
because I didn't find the conversation interesting, or someone I really didn't
want to talk to was on air at the time.  Problem solved! :)

While in my book, it's OK to politely break in to join in the existing
conversation, or even to put out a call (and either keeping any conversation
brief or immediately QSYing, once contact has been made - and don't forget to
thank those already using the frequency), after asking those on air politely.
Butting in and putting out a call without any acknowledgement of those using
the frequency is simply rude (unless it really is an emergency), as is taking
over the frequency after breaking in.
