I will be conducting a ham radio license exam session this coming
Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the University Of Arkansas At Little Rock
(UALR) Benton Center, located at 410 River Street in Benton, in Saline
County. Walk-ins are welcome until 9:30am.
Directions on how to get to the exam are located at:
http://callsign.ualr.edu/ve-exams.shtml
Be sure to look for the exams for the UALR Benton Center for the
May 21, 2016 session. Testing may be done later in the year at the
Benton Center, and/or at the UALR Campus in Little Rock. These dates
and locations will be announced later.
I will be assisting with a license exam session, done by the
Arkansas Defense Force Amateur Radio Club next Saturday, May 28, 2016,
at the Laman Library, at 2801 Orange Street, in North Little Rock.
Testing begins at 1pm, with walk-ins welcome until 1:30pm. They test
the last Saturday of every month, except for December.
Then, I will conduct an amateur radio license exam session at the
Amy Sanders Library in Sherwood on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 31
Shelby Drive (just around the corner from the Sherwood Municipal
Complex on Kiehl Avenue). Testing begins at 2pm, with walk-ins
welcome until 2:30pm.
For what to bring to the license exam, go to:

Those wishing to register for the exam, or to notify the VE Team
Liaison of needed exam accomodations due to a disability, can email
me at wx1der at gmail dot com
Also, again a reminder that the Question Pool and resulting exams
for the Amateur Extra Class license will CHANGE on July 1, 2016. In
many areas, the last chance to take the Amateur Extra Class exam for
the current Question Pool will be during Field Day Weekend, Saturday
and Sunday, June 25 and 26, 2016. The NEW Amateur Extra Question Pool
has been heavily modernized for digital applications.
Note that there will NOT be ANY Question Pool change in 2017. The
Question Pool cycle begins anew in 2018, with the Technician Class
Question Pool...followed by the General Class Question Pool in 2019...
and finally, the Amateur Extra Class Question Pool in 2020.
The pools and exams change every 4 years...so, examinees need to
be SURE that they are studying the CURRENT exam material. Otherwise,
they will be in for "a rude awakening" on exam day...likely seeing
questions they have never seen before. And, while studying is NOT
fun, if you don't study the material...let alone the right material...
you are practically guaranteed to fail the exam!! Ten options for
study material are located at:
http://www.wx1der.com/hamradio.htm#study
Some options are free, but some do charge a fee.
As of this posting (May 19, 2016), if you have study material for
the Technician exam BEFORE July 1, 2014...the General exam BEFORE
July 1, 2015...or the Amateur Extra exam BEFORE July 1, 2012...they
are WORTHLESS, and should be DISCARDED. Effective July 1, 2016, that
will be the new date for the Extra Class Question Pool, and any study
material before that date will be WORTHLESS, and should be DISCARDED.
