Due to various issues, I am in the process of CHANGING my current ham
radio vanity callsign. This will be my 4th callsign in the 28 years
I've been an amateur radio operator...averaging 1 call for 7 years
usage.

Here's a short history on each:

N5VLZ - August, 1991 through June, 2009
AE5WX - June, 2009 through December, 2012
WX1DER - December, 2012 through March, 2019
????? - March, 2019 through the end of my life

I never thought I'd change my call again, but circumstances have
dictated that I must. Several think I'm a meteorologist, but I have
repeatedly said that "I am an AMATEUR WEATHER ENTHUSIAST, but I know
enough to be dangerous"...and add that "I did stay at a Holiday Inn
Express Last Night!!" <GRIN!>.

I'm not posting the new call just yet, because even though it was
available, and I applied for it, I won't get it until March 26. But,
since weather (what got me into ham radio) is no longer "my priority
traffic", I will say the new callsign will be a 2x2 call, and is related
to trains and railroading. My late uncle, K3VRM (it won't be his call),
gave me my love of ham radio and trains...he was the only other ham radio
operator in the family...and he was the youngest engineer hired by the
Penn Central Railroad.

This means a LARGE amount of changes, including:

* New VE Badge from ARRL/VEC (I don't plan to test again locally until May).

* New QSL Cards (may order eyeball QSO cards from QCWA instead, or just
make my own -- I am working on a new design.

* New Ornamental Items For The Shack (much smaller at my Mom's home).

* Updating of my QRZ Profile, Facebook Page, BBS Bulletins, and Web Pages.

* Updating the commemorative certificate for the D-Star Trains Net.

* Registering of the new callsign with D-Star, D-Rats, Echolink, CQ100,
QCWA, QRZ, and WL2K, among others, including some ham radio software.

Items with the soon to be former call will become WORTHLESS, but I just
feel the need to change the callsign. At least I'm not asking for one
every 3 weeks...that draws the ire of the FCC!!

Once the new callsign takes effect, WX1DER will no longer be valid.
