N> DS> Zed
N> DS> A way of saying the letter "Z"; considered by many to be a more precise
N> DS> way of expressing that letter "Z"; prevents others from confusing "Z"
N> DS> with "E", "P", etc.

N>I've heard "zed" is the way the letter Z is pronounced in other English
N>countries outside of the US..  Also the way it's pronounced in German is
N>similar to "zed".

The ITU phonetics are very helpful...especially when you get things
like B, C, D, E, G, P, T, and Z in succession. The same can be said with
J and K.
