  Hello everybody!

With the new year starting I've finally decided to do something that I've been
wanting to do since High School (Which, by the way, was quite a long time ago).
I'm looking for recommendations for basic HAM gear to get started with. I don't
have my license yet but I am very technically oriented and have extensive
Electricity and Electronics training from the Navy. I want to start would with
a good receiver and then progress to a good transceiver once I get my license.
I like older equipment and I am not too worried about price.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what would be good to start with?

BTW, I live in Rural West Virginia so I don't have any local swap fests or
anything and the one club thats close to me is unreachable (Thier website is
broken and I can not submit a contact there) so it looks like I'll need to
stick with mail ordering.

Steven
